Nutley Family Service Bureau – Upcoming Programs & Workshops:
Tuesday, December 12, 19, 26 – 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm – Kids Social Skills Workshop Ages 5-12 – Children will be split into two different age groups after the 1st session. In this free program, elementary school children learn how to interact in ways that are optimally communicative and socially appropriate with a focus on skills for effective listening, reciprocal responsiveness, self-reflection, behavior modulation and heightened sensitivity to others. The participants engage in child-centered activities such as: game playing, balanced competition and creative arts. Every Tuesdays, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at 172 Chestnut Street. Monday, December 18th – 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm – Women helping Women – Share your strengths and challenges while receiving support in a safe and compassionate environment. Wednesday, December 20th – 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm – Caregiver Support Group – Learn how to take care of yourself while taking care of everyone else! – Please join us for an opportunity to share your feelings, receive emotional support, and discuss solutions to common caregiver challenges with other family caregivers. Historic Restoration Trust Kingsland Manor – A Christmas Carol:
Friday, Dcember 15th – 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm – A Candlelight Reading of Charles Dickens ‘ “A Christmas Carol”. Join Mr. Dickens as he tells his timeless yuletide tale in the home of the Kingsland family, surrounded by holiday decorations, flickering candles and period furnishings. Nutley Little Theatre – “Blackbird”:

David Harrower’s critically acclaimed play, “Blackbird,” will open Friday, December 8th, 8 pm, at the NLT Barn, 47 Erie Place, Nutley and run for six performances over two weekends. As an alternative to the usual holiday fare, Nutley Little Theatre is presenting this Olivier-winning and Tony-nominated drama about a young woman who confronts the man who sexually abused her as a child. The cast includes Gina Sarno of Nutley, Nick Pascarella of Ho-Ho-Kus, and Emma Osbourne of Montclair. Curtain is at 8 pm for evening performances and 2 pm for matinees. Tickets are $18, with a $2 discount for senior citizens and students (for matinees only). This limited run is a special benefit on behalf of Nutley Little Theatre. Nutley Public Library – Upcoming December Events
Tuesday, December 12, 19, 26 – 1:00 pm – Play Bridge – No registration required.
Wednesday, December 13, 20, 27 – 1:00 pm – Wednesday Afternoon Knitters – Come share your love of knitting and crocheting with both beginning and experienced knitters. Meet fellow knitters, brush-up on your skills, and learn some new techniques. Please bring your own supplies. This group meets every Wednesday.
Tuesday, December 19th – 7:00 pm – Tuesday Night Graphic Novel Club for Adults – Join us as we discuss graphic novels and sample foods from local eateries throughout town. Discussions begin at 7 pm. This month’s book is Sculptor by Scott McCloud. Copies of each book are available at the library one month prior to each meeting.
