The Phoenix Center – Grant from Columbia Bank: On October 2, 2018, Thomas J. Kemly, Columbia Bank President and CEO, and Amy Dupuis, Executive Director of the Columbia Bank Foundation, visited The Phoenix Center in Nutley, NJ, to present a $30,000 grant for security upgrades to the school’s entrance and visitor management system. Of the grant, Kemly says, “We are proud that the Columbia Foundation is able to assist The Phoenix Center in renovating their entry foyer. The Phoenix Center is always investing in the school and always improving it. While there is a lot of need, The Phoenix Center does a great job with maintaining a state-of-the-art facility. Good Vibes Yoga – Kids Yoga & Schedule Updates: Kid’s Yoga with Michelle! Our Saturday Kid’s Yoga Class is back! 10 am on Saturdays is when we offer a NON HOT course including fun exercises and poses kids,ages 5 – 12, can do. Sign up ahead of time is now required for the class and we do require parents sign a waiver. REGISTER! Our Tuesday 4:30 pm 1 Hour Hot Vinyasa Flow with Amber is temporarily off the schedule. Historic Restoration Trust – Kingsland Manor Visit: Greg and Sandra Kingsland and their wonderful daughters Kaitlyn and Maggie visited the Kingsland Manor today. They are descendants of Isaac Kingsland and his son Aaron who was Joseph Kingsland’s brother. We loved sharing the Kingsland Manor with our Pennsylvania Kingsland’s! Bill and Tamara Kingsland visited the Kingsland Manor with friends Wayne and Kim. They weren’t able to attend our earlier Kingsland family visit. We loved being able to show the Kingsland Manor to our Maryland Kingslands!

Broadway House – CEO Attends FBI Academy: President/CEO James Gonzalez recently attended and graduated from the FBI’s 13th Annual Citizen’s Academy held in Newark, NJ. The Academy is a 7-week program designed to afford community leaders an inside look at the FBI. Attendees were introduced to the structure and operation of a FBI field office; learned from agents who stop terrorists, talk violent people into surrender, train bomb sniffing dogs and share tools with local and state police departments. They also had firearms training. Classes are taught by FBI executives and managers.
Nutley Lions Club – Eyes for the Needy Donations: The Nutley Lions Club is a charitable organization dedicated primarily to helping the blind and the sight impaired. One of our many programs is collecting old eyeglasses and donating them to the poor primarily through “Eyes for the Needy”. We currently have two collection points where we collect used eyeglasses in Nutley: 1). Dr. Walter Shurminsky’s office 420 Centre Street, Nutley and 2). White Oak Pharmacy 88 Union Avenue, Nutley.
