Friday, February 23rd – 8:00 pm

Saturday, February 24th – 2:00 pm & 8:00 pm
Nutley Little Theatre will present “Anna in the Tropics,” the winner of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, by Nilo Cruz. It will open on Friday, February 9, at 8 pm, at the NLT Barn, 47 Erie Place, Nutley, and run for six performances. The opening night performance will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton. “Anna in the Tropics” is a poignant and poetic play set in 1929 Florida in a Cuban-American cigar factory, where cigars are still rolled by hand and “lectors” are employed to educate and entertain the workers. The arrival of a new lector is a cause for celebration, but when he begins to read aloud from “Anna Karenina,” the scandalous lives of Tolstoy’s characters start to intertwine with the lives of his listeners with tragic consequences. Tickets are $18, with a $2 discount for senior citizens and students (for matinees only). For additional information, go to Tickets can be purchased either online at or by calling 212-868-4444.
