Nutley Little Theatre’s first production of its 85th season, Significant Other, by Joshua Harmon, will open on September 13th in a benefit performance for New Jersey Buddies. The show is performed at the NLT Barn, 47 Erie Place, Nutley. This comedy is about four friends in their late 20s and their search for relationships in 21st century New York City. Jordan Berman would love to be in love, but that’s easier said than done. So until he meets Mr. Right, he wards off lonely nights with his trio of close girlfriends. But as singles’ nights turn into bachelorette parties, Jordan discovers that the only thing harder than finding love is supporting the loved ones around you when they do. Nutley Historical Society – Stories from New Jersey Diners Reception:
Friday, September 27th – 7:00 pm – “Stories from New Jersey Diners – Monuments to Community” a new book by Clifton author Michael C. Gabriele, will be unveiled during a reception at the Nutley Museum, 65 Church Street, Nutley. The event, sponsored by the Nutley Historical Society, is free and open to the public. The book (190 pages and over 80 photos, including a 16-page color insert) documents stories gathered throughout the Diner Capital of the World. Diners and lunch wagons have been part of New Jersey life for 125 years, serving as beloved meeting places for their respective communities. Individuals caught up in a family member’s addiction are at risk for multiple life challenges, with social isolation and mental health problems among them. Destructive behavioral patterns such victimization, enabling and codependency can reinforce/ perpetuate the disease’s debilitating dynamics. If you are interested in learning how to break the cycle of dysfunctional relationship patterns associated with addiction, join us. Mayor Scarpelli and the Nutley Board of Commissioners – Welcome Day 2019:
Friday, September 20th – 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Nichols Park, 898 Bloomfield Avenue, Nutley. Mayor Scarpelli and the Nutley Board of Commissioners will be hosting “Welcome Day 2019” for the businesses, staff, faculty and students located at ON3, the former Hoffman-LaRoche campus. Last year they welcomed hundreds of students, faculty and staff from the Medical School as well as the employees of Modern Meadows. This year, they will be welcoming Ralph Lauren, Hackensack Meridian Health Center for Discovery and Innovation, Y-mAbs Therapeutics, Inc., and the incoming class for the medical school. They are looking for Township business and food establishments to set up a booth in Nichols Park and provide a sampling from your menu to welcome our new neighbors. Thursday, September 19th – 3:30 pm – Book Launch – “Trapped In My Body In My Own Words” author Claire Centrella will talk about her daughter Melissa who passed away almost 20 years ago. They were long time residents of Nutley. Kirk Cameron star of “Growing Pains” was their good friend, and wrote the foreword to the book. He will be at the library to sign copies of the book.
