Nutley Little Theatre – “Parallel Lives”
Sunday, December 9th – 2:00 pm
Friday, December 14th – 8:00 pm

Saturday, December 15th – 2:00 pm & 8:00 pm
Continuing its tradition of presenting alternatives to the usual holiday fare, NLT will hold its annual fundraiser with the show “Parallel Lives” by Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy and directed by Amy Sellars of Ridgewood. Ms. Sellars was recently honored with a NJACT Perry Award in 2018 for Best Director for Outstanding New Musical for the Radburn Players’ production of “Auditions: The Musical Review.” “Parallel Lives” welcomes audiences to the outrageous universe of Kathy and Mo, where several actresses play men and women struggling through the common rituals of modern life: teenagers on a date, sisters at their grandmother’s funeral, a man and a woman together in a country-western bar. This limited run is a special benefit on behalf of Nutley Little Theatre, an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that has been presenting high quality dramas and musicals to the New Jersey community for over 84 years. Tickets are $20, with a $2 discount for senior citizens and students (for matinees only) through SmartTix by calling 212.868.4444 or ONLINE.

In the Eastern cultures that follow Vedic traditions, particularly Hinduism, it is a gathering where a “call and response” type song or chant (mantra) happens. There is usually one or a few singers plus musicians involved and usually the theme of the music, or chant, relates to deities or saints from epics in the traditions that practice it. It is a method to express love and devotion to such deities as well as each other. Love and devotion being the main elements of the practice of Bhakti Yoga.
