Nutley Chamber of Commerce Member Code of Conduct:
Membership in Nutley Chamber of Commerce is accompanied by the expectation that all members are aware of and committed to the following code of conduct. The code of conduct requires all Chamber members and program participants to:
1. Abide by the Bylaws of the Nutley Chamber. The Bylaws serve as the governing document of the Chamber.
2. Refrain from publicly disparaging the business practices of fellow members and refrain from condoning or engaging in misrepresentation or unethical practices.
3. Conduct business professionally and uphold the reputation of the business community and Chamber members.
4. Uphold and represent the Nutley Chamber’s reputation and status.
5. Support the Nutley Chamber’s Vision and Mission and work with other members to uphold this Code of Conduct.
6. When feasible, attend Chamber functions and activities, and support the development of business within the township.
7. Maintain high ethical standards when providing services or selling products, relying on your own expertise.
8. Comply with all relevant laws and avoid illegal or unfair practices in business operations and present a true presentation in all advertising. Goods and services shall be advertised in accordance with all Municipal, State and Federal legislation.
9. Respect Chamber staff. The Chamber prohibits any unlawful harassment of staff, including harassment based on race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, marital status, pregnancy, age, medical condition, or disability.
10. I/we understand that not following the Nutley Chamber Member Code of Conduct or Bylaws may lead to membership termination.
11. Nutley Chamber ensures all event participants and guests experience an inclusive, welcoming, and harassment-free environment.
12. Nutley Chamber prohibits harassment at its events in any form, including based on gender, identity, orientation, disability, appearance, race, age, religion, or other protected status. Harassment covers abusive language, intimidation, stalking, inappropriate photos or recordings, unwanted physical contact, sexual imagery or requests, and unwelcome advances. It also includes offensive or intrusive posts on social media or electronic communications during or after Chamber events.
13. Participants who experience or observe harassment at any Nutley Chamber event are encouraged to report the incident directly to a member of the Nutley Chamber staff or Board of Advisors. Harassment reports will be addressed immediately and will be managed with sensitivity and discretion.
14. Any participant at a Nutley Chamber event who is requested to discontinue behavior deemed as harassment is expected to do so promptly. Should the participant persist in such conduct, the Nutley Chamber will implement appropriate measures, which may include removal from the event and potential exclusion from future events.
Membership is Nutley Chamber of Commerce is a privilege, not a right. Nutley Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to change and/or alter this code of conduct at any time.
